I met Jessica and Jason a couple weeks ago. I was referred by their make up and hair stylist, Chrissy and Sarah Engleskirch. I did Chrissy’s wedding a few years back. Jessica works a a Federal Credit Union in Towson and Jason is a project manager. They were engaged in Venice Italy and that was the theme for the wedding. You will see some photos of Venice in the video they had on display. We set up 3 systems for this event, the main system for the reception, the ceremony system and a cocktail system in the hallway. Jay was our banquet captain and very nice. The bridal party was introduced into the reception hall and danced their first dance to Rascal Flatt’s “Bless The Broken Road”. After the toast by the best man, Bryan Pardoe who said he was very proud of his brother a sit down dinner was served. The bride danced with her father to “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. The groom then danced with his grandmother Ugie to “Wind Beneath My Wings” dedicated in honor of his mother Jenny. The bride and groom did an Apron dance with their friends and family. The party started off a little slow and then kicked up into fifth gear about 45 minutes before it ended and they did not want to stop dancing at the end of the reception. The bride and groom danced their last dance to Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s “It’s Your Love”. The after party continued on the second floor at the Orioles Grille following the reception. The couple is now honeymooning in South East Asia.

Congratulations and good luck to Jessica and Jason.

Event Entertainment provided dj and photography services for Bernie McShea and Christine Schepis. This was my first time here at this venue and they were very nice people to work with. The bride and groom had selected big band music for cocktail and classical music for dinner. They were introduced to “The Disney Theme Song”. The father of the bride gave a welcome speech and did the blessing. The dinner was a buffet style dinner. We invited the tables to the buffet by calling them out. Each table was named a type of flower which was very original. The bride does accounting and the groom is a computer expert. After dinner the best man, John Loucaides gave his toast saying how the groom was a very resourceful person and was now living the dream. At the end of his speech he quoted a verse from Isaiah. The bride and groom danced their first dance to “History in the Making” by Darius Rucker. We continued with the bride dancing with her father to the very popular “I Loved Her First” by Heartland. We then did the Anniversary dance eliminating all the married couples by longevity and the last couple were the grandparents of the bride, Philip and Angelina Schepis who have been married 57 years. There were a lot of children at this reception so we played a variety of request including “The Hokey Pokey” by Ray Anthony and “Jump Around” by House of Pain where one of the guest stole the show with a break dancing move. Everyone had a great time, and the bride and groom danced their last dance to “How Sweet It Is” by James Taylor. The evening concluded with Christine tossing the bouquet. The happy couple are now on their honeymoon in Charleston South Carolina.

Congratulations Christine and Bernie

Gross – Gerhardt Wedding Ceremony & Reception – Celebrations at the Bay – Pasadena MD – September 23rd 2011

A record setting month for Baltimore for rain and today was no different. Again at my favorite venue, Celebrations at the Bay this time for a Friday morning/afternoon wedding ceremony/reception. The ceremony was scheduled for 11:30 AM. We set up our main system in the ballroom where Elieen (our banquet coordinator) had prepared the room for the ceremony since the weather did not look like it was going to cooperate. It was very threatening but at 11 AM it was not raining so we were going to try and have the ceremony outdoors on the deck. The staff hustled to set up for the outside ceremony as did we to set up our third sound system. We played prelude music for about 15 minutes and it looked like we were going to be able to pull it off and then the rains came so we went back to plan B and had the ceremony indoors. The ballroom has a huge window so everyone could still see the background view of the bay from their seats as Sara and Gary said their vows. The wonderful ceremony was performed by “Weddings by Sandy”. The bride and groom Sara Gross and Gary Gerhardt are moving to San Diego California. Gary is a renowned tattoo artist (has done sports stars and celebrities including Jonathan Ogden from the Ravens) and Sara is a massage therapist. The recessional song was appropriately “California Sun” by the Rivieras. We continued with the Beach themed cocktail music and the rain stopped  for about a half an hour and the bride and groom got a lot of photos outside before the rain started again which make the bride very happy. The bride and groom were introduced to “Crazy Train” by Ozzie Osborne and danced their first dance to Anberlin’s “Breathe”. After the first dance the bride’s sister Maid of Honor (Marissa) and the groom’s brother Best Man (Ricky) gave their toast. Marissa told of stories about getting dressed alike and dying their hair orange instead of blonde and Ricky highly complimented his brother and then said now lets talk about Gary which received a roar of laughter. The father of the bride welcomed the guest and then dinner was served. The dinner was Filet Mignon and Crab Cakes and was absolutely delicious. Catering by Uptown is absolutely the best!!! After dinner the bride danced with her dad to Heartland’s “I loved her first” and the groom and his mom danced to “Simple Man” by Shinedown. The groom’s dad informed me that Gary is a big Redskins fan so we played “Hail to the Redskins”. The guest danced and had a great party all afternoon. For a Friday afternoon event, I was very surprised of how much they danced. The last song was “Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen and the bride and groom left with a Bubble sendoff. They are now honeymooning in Ocean City for a few days and then leaving to start their new married life in San Diego California.

Congratulations Sara and Gary

This was my second time at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens. The bride and groom are big Ravens fans as am I and chose this venue because of their passion for the team and of course its overall beautiful setting for photos and ambiance. Carly and Ellen were our banquet coordinators for the day and they did a fantastic job. Lacey works for Tate Engineering and Rob has his own construction firm. A few of the guest told be that Rob’s work is incredible. We worked with Green Giraffe Photography from Delaware and they are a very nice husband and wife team. They took photos of the bride and groom and bridal party on the field. The bride and groom and bridal party were introduced to the Ravens theme song and danced their first dance to “Angel Eyes” by The Jeff Healy Band. The matron of honor and best man Mariah and Scott Hartzell gave their toast after dinner and the bride and groom did an Apron dance which everyone enjoyed. The crowd did dance some and everyone enjoyed themselves. We played any request that were made by the guest. The bride and groom’s last dance was “I’ve Had The Time of My Life” by Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley from the “Dirty Dancing” movie.

Congratulations Lacey and Rob

Martin – Eyler Wedding Reception – 1840′s Ballroom – Baltimore Maryland – September 10th 2011

After all the rain we had for the last few days it was nice to have a day with very little of it. A very popular wedding date 9-10-11 we drove down to the 1840′s Ballroom in Baltimore and it was a little congested for us since there was already another wedding there and 2 different catering companies loading and unloading their equipment. The catering company Absolute Perfect Catering were very accommodating and let us use the elevator to take our equipment up to the 4th floor where the reception was being held. This was my first time at the 1840′s Ballroom and I have to say it is very elegant indeed. Juan was their representative and was very very nice. We had a wedding coordinator Aubrey Canale from Simply Created Events recommend us to the bride and groom. We did her wedding about 4 years ago and she decided to plan weddings after planning her own. The bride and groom selected a string quartet “String Poets” for the ceremony, cocktail and dinner music. They played the dinner selections after the intros and toast and did a great job. After dinner the bride and groom danced their first dance to “Only You Can Love Me This Way” by Keith Urban. The crowd immediately packed the dance floor and stayed there the entire night dancing to some motown, disco and newer top 40. One of the groomsmen and maid of honor each did a surprise skit that was hilarious. The bride and groom ended the evening with Sara Evan’s “I Could Not Ask For More”. They are now enjoying their honeymoon in Bora Bora. I would like to thank the Mother of the Bride, Rosemarie T Martin for her generosity and hospitality.

Congratulations Stephanie and Nate

It was a very humid Labor day Sunday and Event Entertainment provided the music for the wedding reception for Mary Kelly and Kenny Beaver. Kenny works for the University of Maryland basketball and Mary is on the dance team. Rosina was the banquet coordinator for the day and was very nice and we worked well together. Putting on the Ritz catering always does a great job and their food is excellent. The photographer Jason Procopio and his wife looked like they took a lot of great candid shots at the reception and we worked well together. The groom is a big Springsteen fan and selected a good portion of the music in advance for cocktail, dinner and dancing. The bridal party was introduced and the bride and groom danced their first dance to “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys. After the first dance the maid of honor Caroline Kelly and brother of the groom Chris Beaver gave a toast followed by a toast by the father of the bride Win Kelly. After dinner the bride danced with her father to “My Girl” by the Temptations and the groom danced with his mom to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts. The guest danced and had a great time and at the end the brides Uncle Chris put on a show with “Living on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi. Everyone loved it!! The bride and groom are now honeymooning in Aruba.

Special thanks to Nancy and Win for such a great party and selecting me to be the dj.

Congratulations Mary and Kenny

McDaniel College – Back to School 2011-2012 – Westminster Maryland – August 31st 2011

August 31st 2011

Wednesday August 31st 2011 was a slightly overcast but very nice afternoon at McDaniel College in Westminster Maryland. This is the college where the Ravens typically hold practice open to the public before residing to their facility in Owings Mills. They did not have it here this year because of the lockout between the players and owners. This event was a back to school event mainly for underclassmen to sign up for sponsors, fraternities and other school related social organizations at McDaniel College. The event was catered and I mainly just played a mixture of music and took request. A few people did do a couple line dances but mainly socialized, enjoyed the food and got information regarding the activity groups.  An aspiring dj Andrew hung out with me and showed me a couple things with the lastest technology. He is at the expert level of the video game DJ Hero. This is the second event I did for McDaniel this year and I enjoy playing for their students. Thanks to Lyndsey for having me back and I look forward to doing more events for McDaniel College.

Denner – DeYulis wedding ceremony and reception – Celebrations at the Bay – Pasadena Maryland – August 26th 2011

It was the calm before the storm. Hurricane Irene is approaching this weekend and luckily Jim and Christine planned their wedding on Friday and are leaving Sunday morning for their honeymoon in Mexico. You could not ask for more perfect timing. It was a little humid but overall very nice weather. Jim and Christine chose Celebrations at the Bay in Pasadena for the ceremony and reception. This is absolutely the best venue in Maryland by far for weddings and I have been to just about everyone in the last 25 years. The food is phenomenal and so is the staff, service and overall ambiance. It is located on the Chesapeake Bay so the backdrop is perfect. Special thanks to our banquet coordinator Peter who did a fabulous job. They have 2 places for the ceremony, one on the deck and one on the lawn. This ceremony was on the lawn and the bride walked down the isle to the Piano Brothers version of Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring. Pastor Dave Hoffman performed the short but sweet ceremony. The couple chose “tropical beach theme” music for their cocktail hour including The Beach Boys, Bob Marley and Jimmy Buffet. The reception was in the large tent area which has beautiful uplighting. The bride and groom were introduced into the reception area to “Enter Sandman” by Metallica.  Jim and Christine did their first dance by Rascal Flatts called “I Won’t Let Go”. The maid of honor Christiana and the best man Chris gave their heartfelt toast and the guest dined on filet mignon and crab cake. I just have to reiterate how wonderful the food was. After dinner the bride danced with her father to “Butterfly Kisses” by Bob Carlisle. The father had chosen that song many years ago when the bride was a teenager and said when she got married that was the song he wanted to dance to her with. The groom then danced with his mom to “All to You” by DJ Keo which is a new song and I think it will become a very popular one for the traditional mother/son dance. The best man then dedicated “Thank You” by Led Zepplin since that was the first dance the couple danced to when they first got engaged. The guest danced all night and had a good time. The groom who graduated from Virginia Tech requested “The Hokey Pokey” which is apparently Virginia Tech’s theme song. The bride and groom’s last dance was “Save The Last Dance For Me” by Michael Buble. They concluded the evening with an exciting sparkler sendoff. The bride and groom are now honeymooning in Mexico.

Congratulations Jim and Christine

LaFond – Spadaccini wedding ceremony and reception – Ceresville Mansion – Frederick Maryland – August 13th 2011

It was a stormy day with downpour rain showers off and on. We were all setup inside and a big downpour came about 1/2 hour before the wedding. Melissa our banquet manager had setup inside for the ceremony and was going to make a last minute decision depending on the weather. The bride had her heart set on an outside ceremony so that was the plan. I set up my speaker outside and Melissa had a great idea to put a plastic bag over it to protect it. We setup the system inside and we were all set. Luckily, the rain held up and we had the ceremony outside as planned. Reverend Leslianne Braunstein performed the ceremony and did an excellent job. Jessica and Rich took photos outside and we set up a small speaker in the back room for cocktail. We introduced the bridal party on schedule and the bride and groom danced their first dance as they entered. It was a salsa style first dance called “Tu Amor Me Hace Bien” by Marc Anthony. The best man Jeffrey the grooms brother did his toast immediately following. It was a pretty funny toast which was titled “The top 10 moments with Rich”, a take off on David Letterman’s Top 10 list. Number 10 was “In August 1999 Rich moved out” which received a loud laughter from the guest. #1 was Rich finding a lady who will accept his fashion, cooking and massive head. After dinner the bride danced with her father to Paul Simon’s “Father and Daughter”. They party kicked off and the guest danced feverishly all night. The bride and groom are both Engineers and baseball fans. Jessica is a Red Sox fan and Rich is a HUGE Yankee fan. We played “Sweet Caroline” for Jessica which is the song they play at the 7th inning stretch at Red Sox games and the last song of the night was “New York New York” by Frank Sinatra which is the way all Yankee games end. The couple went to Spain for their honeymoon. Special thanks to Ceresville Mansion’s coordinator Melissa. She was just a dream to work with.

Congratulations Jessica and Rich

Grap – Glover Wedding Ceremony and Reception – The Gathering Place – Clarksville Maryland – August 6th 2011

August 6th 2011

This was my first time at the Gathering Place in Clarksville. I was greeted by Kate the catering manager who was very nice and accommodating. Craig (my son) and I set up the main system in the main ballroom where the ceremony and reception took place. The cocktail hour was in the basement and required a remote sound system. Rachel was an English teacher and Dan is in the Navy reserves after fulfilling his service time and is currently a steamfitter. The ceremony went off without a hitch. The bride walked down the isle to a Piano version of “Here comes the bride” by Chris Wisner which I liked a lot. After the cocktail hour we introduced Rachel and Dan into the hall to “Fins” by Jimmy Buffet. The new Mr. and Mrs. Glover are Parrot Heads and attend as many Jimmy Buffet concerts they can. We played some Buffet songs during dinner as well. After the dinner, the reception kicked off with the bride and groom’s first dance, “My Best Friend” by Tim Mcgraw followed by the parent dances, “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw and “They Cant Take That Away From Me” by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. The guest continued to dance throughout the afternoon to a mixture of genres. The song ”We Are Family” was a big hit and everyone loved it. The bride and groom’s last dance was “Marry Me” by Train. Rachel and Dan are going on a Caribbean Cruise to the southern Caribbean islands, the same cruise line they got engaged on. I imagine they will hear some good Jimmy Buffet music along the way.

Congratulations Rachel and Dan
