You can definately tell fall is in the air because it was a pretty chilly day. I have to say this was one of the best parties of the year. The ceremony was scheduled to start at 3:30 and we were right on time. The bride escorted by her father walked down the aisle to “Arioso” by Bach. The bride promised the groom in her vowels not to raise their children as Eagles, Giants or Cowboy Fans. It was a pretty lighthearted ceremony. The cocktail hour was in the hallway and we provided some music for the guest. Meanwhile the bride and groom were taking photos outside. The bride and groom were introduced to “Ob-la-Di Ob-la-Da” by the Beatles. They immediately did their first dance to Straylight Run’s “Existentialism On Prom Night”. The bride then danced with her father to Linda Ronstadt’s “Hay Unos Ojos” and the groom and his mom followed with Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World”. The maid of honor, matron of honor and best man all gave funny and sincere toast. After the sit down dinner of steak and chicken, the bride and groom cut the cake. Then the party started and kicked off in high gear. The groom graduated from Towson University and with his fraternity brothers “The Triangle Brothers” sang arm in arm to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”. There were only about 80 guest but most of them were pretty wild and packed the dance floor the entire night. The bride and groom did their last dance by Etta James classic ”At Last”. It was truly a wonderful evening.

Congratulations to Ashley and Brandon and thanks for a GREAT party. One final note. After the party I was named an honorary Triangle Brother.

Floer – Coursey wedding ceremony and reception – Snyder’s Willow Grove Restaurant – Linthicum Maryland – October 29th 2011

We arrived at Snyder’s at about 5:30 for a 7:30 ceremony start time. I used to live in Linthicum and Snyder’s was one of our favorite restaurants. The cream of crab and imperial crab is the best in Baltimore. Debbie (one of the managers) is the aunt of the bride. I did her wedding about 10 years ago and she has recommended me a few times in the past. Lynn and Lorraine were the banquet managers that evening and were very nice. Nadine the bartender also is one of my favorite people at Snyder’s. The wedding was a little unique as the groom and best men wore Yankee hats for the ceremony. They are big Yankee fans. The bride is a professional hairdresser and had a lot of her coworkers there as well as friends and family. The bride walked down the aisle to “From this Moment” a version by the Piano Brothers. After the ceremony they were introduced in the hall and the Maid of Honor did the toast. After the delicious buffet dinner, the bride and groom danced their first dance to “I Cross My Heart” by George Strait. The bride then danced with her dad Donald to “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. The groom then danced with his Grandmother Joyce to “Simple Man” by Lynard Skynard and his mom to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts. There was not a lot of dancing at the beginning but toward the end, the remaining few would not stop dancing. Everyone one had a wonderful time especially the bride. She was smiling and glowing the whole night.

Special thanks to Debbie for thinking of me.

Congratulations Tabitha and Tim

Thomas Schwenz wedding reception – Overhills Mansion – Catonsville Maryland – October 22nd 2011

October 22nd 2011

This was my second Thomas wedding reception this year. The first reception was the bride’s sister Alisa and her husband Wes on Memorial weekend held at Turf Valley Resorts. This time the bride is Jane Thomas and the groom is Ryan Schwenz. This is one of those girl next door romances since Ryan grew up in Jane’s neighborhood and knew her his whole life. Overhills Mansion is one of my favorite venues. Brandi who is always very nice to us was our Banquet Manager for this evening’s reception. The bridal party arrived on time and everything was on schedule. The bridal party was introduced to “Dance To The Music” by Sly and The Family Stone. The matron of honor Jackie Woznicki and best man Mitchell Swentz did the toast immediately following the intros. The father of the bride did the blessing since the priest, who is a family member got a little lost. Father Thomas did another prayer later in the evening when he arrived and talked about the sanctity of marriage. After the delicious buffet dinner, the bride and groom cut the cake and then danced their first dance to “Better Together” by Jack Johnson followed by the parent dances which were “I Loved Her First” by Heartland and “Just The Way You Are” by Billy Joel. After the dances the father of the bride, Mike Thomas gave a welcome speech and told a story why Jane and him chose that particular song for their dance. He actually held Jane first before Martha got to hold her when she was born. He then proceeded to talk about a traditional family football game where his team got clobbered at the last meeting so he officially drafted the groom since he was the newest member of the family to his football team. Apparently Ryan is a pretty good athlete to warrant this special attention. After the speech, the dancing began and just like the prior Thomas wedding they danced all evening to Motown, Rock and Roll and some new Top 40 music. The bride and groom’s last dance was “Beautiful Day” by U2. The couple are now on their honeymoon in Seattle Washington.

Congratulations to Jane and Ryan.

I met Jessica and Jason a couple weeks ago. I was referred by their make up and hair stylist, Chrissy and Sarah Engleskirch. I did Chrissy’s wedding a few years back. Jessica works a a Federal Credit Union in Towson and Jason is a project manager. They were engaged in Venice Italy and that was the theme for the wedding. You will see some photos of Venice in the video they had on display. We set up 3 systems for this event, the main system for the reception, the ceremony system and a cocktail system in the hallway. Jay was our banquet captain and very nice. The bridal party was introduced into the reception hall and danced their first dance to Rascal Flatt’s “Bless The Broken Road”. After the toast by the best man, Bryan Pardoe who said he was very proud of his brother a sit down dinner was served. The bride danced with her father to “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. The groom then danced with his grandmother Ugie to “Wind Beneath My Wings” dedicated in honor of his mother Jenny. The bride and groom did an Apron dance with their friends and family. The party started off a little slow and then kicked up into fifth gear about 45 minutes before it ended and they did not want to stop dancing at the end of the reception. The bride and groom danced their last dance to Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s “It’s Your Love”. The after party continued on the second floor at the Orioles Grille following the reception. The couple is now honeymooning in South East Asia.

Congratulations and good luck to Jessica and Jason.

Event Entertainment provided dj and photography services for Bernie McShea and Christine Schepis. This was my first time here at this venue and they were very nice people to work with. The bride and groom had selected big band music for cocktail and classical music for dinner. They were introduced to “The Disney Theme Song”. The father of the bride gave a welcome speech and did the blessing. The dinner was a buffet style dinner. We invited the tables to the buffet by calling them out. Each table was named a type of flower which was very original. The bride does accounting and the groom is a computer expert. After dinner the best man, John Loucaides gave his toast saying how the groom was a very resourceful person and was now living the dream. At the end of his speech he quoted a verse from Isaiah. The bride and groom danced their first dance to “History in the Making” by Darius Rucker. We continued with the bride dancing with her father to the very popular “I Loved Her First” by Heartland. We then did the Anniversary dance eliminating all the married couples by longevity and the last couple were the grandparents of the bride, Philip and Angelina Schepis who have been married 57 years. There were a lot of children at this reception so we played a variety of request including “The Hokey Pokey” by Ray Anthony and “Jump Around” by House of Pain where one of the guest stole the show with a break dancing move. Everyone had a great time, and the bride and groom danced their last dance to “How Sweet It Is” by James Taylor. The evening concluded with Christine tossing the bouquet. The happy couple are now on their honeymoon in Charleston South Carolina.

Congratulations Christine and Bernie

Gross – Gerhardt Wedding Ceremony & Reception – Celebrations at the Bay – Pasadena MD – September 23rd 2011

September 23rd 2011

A record setting month for Baltimore for rain and today was no different. Again at my favorite venue, Celebrations at the Bay this time for a Friday morning/afternoon wedding ceremony/reception. The ceremony was scheduled for 11:30 AM. We set up our main system in the ballroom where Elieen (our banquet coordinator) had prepared the room for the ceremony since the weather did not look like it was going to cooperate. It was very threatening but at 11 AM it was not raining so we were going to try and have the ceremony outdoors on the deck. The staff hustled to set up for the outside ceremony as did we to set up our third sound system. We played prelude music for about 15 minutes and it looked like we were going to be able to pull it off and then the rains came so we went back to plan B and had the ceremony indoors. The ballroom has a huge window so everyone could still see the background view of the bay from their seats as Sara and Gary said their vows. The wonderful ceremony was performed by “Weddings by Sandy”. The bride and groom Sara Gross and Gary Gerhardt are moving to San Diego California. Gary is a renowned tattoo artist (has done sports stars and celebrities including Jonathan Ogden from the Ravens) and Sara is a massage therapist. The recessional song was appropriately “California Sun” by the Rivieras. We continued with the Beach themed cocktail music and the rain stopped  for about a half an hour and the bride and groom got a lot of photos outside before the rain started again which make the bride very happy. The bride and groom were introduced to “Crazy Train” by Ozzie Osborne and danced their first dance to Anberlin’s “Breathe”. After the first dance the bride’s sister Maid of Honor (Marissa) and the groom’s brother Best Man (Ricky) gave their toast. Marissa told of stories about getting dressed alike and dying their hair orange instead of blonde and Ricky highly complimented his brother and then said now lets talk about Gary which received a roar of laughter. The father of the bride welcomed the guest and then dinner was served. The dinner was Filet Mignon and Crab Cakes and was absolutely delicious. Catering by Uptown is absolutely the best!!! After dinner the bride danced with her dad to Heartland’s “I loved her first” and the groom and his mom danced to “Simple Man” by Shinedown. The groom’s dad informed me that Gary is a big Redskins fan so we played “Hail to the Redskins”. The guest danced and had a great party all afternoon. For a Friday afternoon event, I was very surprised of how much they danced. The last song was “Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen and the bride and groom left with a Bubble sendoff. They are now honeymooning in Ocean City for a few days and then leaving to start their new married life in San Diego California.

Congratulations Sara and Gary

This was my second time at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens. The bride and groom are big Ravens fans as am I and chose this venue because of their passion for the team and of course its overall beautiful setting for photos and ambiance. Carly and Ellen were our banquet coordinators for the day and they did a fantastic job. Lacey works for Tate Engineering and Rob has his own construction firm. A few of the guest told be that Rob’s work is incredible. We worked with Green Giraffe Photography from Delaware and they are a very nice husband and wife team. They took photos of the bride and groom and bridal party on the field. The bride and groom and bridal party were introduced to the Ravens theme song and danced their first dance to “Angel Eyes” by The Jeff Healy Band. The matron of honor and best man Mariah and Scott Hartzell gave their toast after dinner and the bride and groom did an Apron dance which everyone enjoyed. The crowd did dance some and everyone enjoyed themselves. We played any request that were made by the guest. The bride and groom’s last dance was “I’ve Had The Time of My Life” by Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley from the “Dirty Dancing” movie.

Congratulations Lacey and Rob

Martin – Eyler Wedding Reception – 1840′s Ballroom – Baltimore Maryland – September 10th 2011

After all the rain we had for the last few days it was nice to have a day with very little of it. A very popular wedding date 9-10-11 we drove down to the 1840′s Ballroom in Baltimore and it was a little congested for us since there was already another wedding there and 2 different catering companies loading and unloading their equipment. The catering company Absolute Perfect Catering were very accommodating and let us use the elevator to take our equipment up to the 4th floor where the reception was being held. This was my first time at the 1840′s Ballroom and I have to say it is very elegant indeed. Juan was their representative and was very very nice. We had a wedding coordinator Aubrey Canale from Simply Created Events recommend us to the bride and groom. We did her wedding about 4 years ago and she decided to plan weddings after planning her own. The bride and groom selected a string quartet “String Poets” for the ceremony, cocktail and dinner music. They played the dinner selections after the intros and toast and did a great job. After dinner the bride and groom danced their first dance to “Only You Can Love Me This Way” by Keith Urban. The crowd immediately packed the dance floor and stayed there the entire night dancing to some motown, disco and newer top 40. One of the groomsmen and maid of honor each did a surprise skit that was hilarious. The bride and groom ended the evening with Sara Evan’s “I Could Not Ask For More”. They are now enjoying their honeymoon in Bora Bora. I would like to thank the Mother of the Bride, Rosemarie T Martin for her generosity and hospitality.

Congratulations Stephanie and Nate

It was a very humid Labor day Sunday and Event Entertainment provided the music for the wedding reception for Mary Kelly and Kenny Beaver. Kenny works for the University of Maryland basketball and Mary is on the dance team. Rosina was the banquet coordinator for the day and was very nice and we worked well together. Putting on the Ritz catering always does a great job and their food is excellent. The photographer Jason Procopio and his wife looked like they took a lot of great candid shots at the reception and we worked well together. The groom is a big Springsteen fan and selected a good portion of the music in advance for cocktail, dinner and dancing. The bridal party was introduced and the bride and groom danced their first dance to “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys. After the first dance the maid of honor Caroline Kelly and brother of the groom Chris Beaver gave a toast followed by a toast by the father of the bride Win Kelly. After dinner the bride danced with her father to “My Girl” by the Temptations and the groom danced with his mom to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts. The guest danced and had a great time and at the end the brides Uncle Chris put on a show with “Living on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi. Everyone loved it!! The bride and groom are now honeymooning in Aruba.

Special thanks to Nancy and Win for such a great party and selecting me to be the dj.

Congratulations Mary and Kenny
